3 Mistakes to Avoid When Charging Your Phone

We plug it in without thinking about it, between two messages or just before going to sleep… But did you know that charging your smartphone incorrectly can damage its battery much faster than you think? And in a world where our cell phones have become essential tools for everyday life, it would be a shame to shorten their lifespan because of a few bad habits!

3 Mistakes to Avoid When Charging Your Phone

Mistake #1: Letting it heat up… without reacting

It can’t be said enough: heat is  one of the worst enemies of batteries . And yet, who hasn’t charged their phone in full sun on a garden table or placed against a radiator in winter?  Bad idea!

When your device gets hot while charging—whether from ambient temperature or a thick case—the battery cells  degrade faster . As a result, your battery life  noticeably decreases .

Simple tip:  Charge your phone in a cool, shaded place, and remember to remove the case if it’s thick or poorly ventilated.  Your battery will thank you!

Mistake #2: Using it while charging (even to scroll through Instagram)

Yes, we know… waiting without checking your social media or responding to messages while charging can seem endless. However, using your smartphone while it’s plugged in puts a  double strain  on the battery: it has to recharge and provide power at the same time.

This generates heat, strains components, and can even lead to unexpected reboots. In short, it’s a bit like trying to fill a water bottle by continuously drinking from it:  inefficient and taxing on the system .

The best thing to do is  to let your phone rest while charging (at least occasionally). Even a 30-minute break  will have a beneficial effect.
